shopwithmore.co.uk (“ShopWithMore”, “we”, “us”) is a price comparison website. We list products from UK and Irish retailers so you can compare prices, and we send you to the retailer’s own website if you want to buy. You do not buy anything from us, and you do not need an account to use the site. This policy explains what personal information is, and is not, collected when you use ShopWithMore.

1. What We Collect

Search terms

When you use the search bar we keep a simple record of what was searched for and the date and time of the search, and nothing else. It is stored as a plain text log. It does not include your name, IP address, browser or device details, and a search term is not linked to you or to anything else we hold about you. Automated visitors such as search engine bots are not recorded. Please do not type personal information, such as your name or address, into the search bar.

Website usage information

Like most websites, our servers and our security and delivery provider (Cloudflare) automatically process technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view and the page that referred you. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix faults.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people use the site, for example which pages are popular and which countries visitors come from. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. We use this information only to improve ShopWithMore.

Information stored in your own browser

Some features, such as showing your recent searches, store information in your own browser. That information stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

If you sign up for our newsletter using the form in the footer of the site, we collect the email address you enter (and any other details the form asks for). We use it only to send you the newsletter and ShopWithMore updates. We use a third-party email service to store your details and send the emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, or by contacting us, and we will remove you.

If you contact us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the details you enter, such as your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation.

What we do not collect

We do not take payments, we do not hold payment card details, and we do not ask you to create an account in order to use the site. You never need to give us your details to search or compare prices.

2. Retailer Links and Affiliate Links

Many of the links on ShopWithMore go to retailers, either directly or through an affiliate network such as Kelkoo. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. To work out which visits led to a sale, the link and the retailer or network may use cookies or tracking identifiers, and they receive information that you are visiting from ShopWithMore. This is how we are paid for referring you. Once you leave our site, the retailer’s own privacy policy and cookie policy apply to what they collect, and we are not responsible for their practices.

3. Advertising on ShopWithMore

Some pages of the site show paid advertising banners from advertisers. We count how many times banners are viewed and clicked, so we can report results to advertisers, but this does not identify you. If you click a banner you go to the advertiser’s website, and that advertiser, or the company that serves the advert, may use cookies or tracking technologies of its own. We do not give advertisers your personal information. Their privacy and cookie policies apply once you leave our site.

4. How We Use Information

To run the website, show you search results and keep it secure
To understand what shoppers are searching for, so we can add the products and retailers people want (using the search log described above)
To measure and improve how the site performs and is used
To tell which retailer links lead to purchases, so we can be paid commission
To send you our newsletter, if you have signed up
To reply to messages you send us
To report banner views and clicks to our advertisers, in aggregate
To meet legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use search terms to build a profile of you.

5. Legal Basis

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) we rely on:

Legitimate interests: to operate and secure the site, understand what people are searching for, measure how the site is used, and earn affiliate commission. We keep what we collect to a minimum and do not link search terms to individuals.
Consent: for our newsletter, and for non-essential cookies and similar technologies such as analytics and affiliate tracking. We ask for your cookie choices through our cookie banner, and you can change them at any time through the banner or your browser settings.
Legal obligation: where we have to keep or share information by law.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. On ShopWithMore they are used for:

Security and delivery of the site (for example by Cloudflare)
Analytics, so we can see how the site is used (Google Analytics)
Affiliate tracking when you click through to a retailer
Advertising banners, which advertisers may set cookies for when you click them

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you choose which non-essential cookies to allow. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although some features may be affected.

7. Who We Share Information With

Service providers that help us run the site, such as our hosting provider, Cloudflare and Google Analytics
Affiliate networks and retailers, as described in section 2, when you click through
Our email service provider, which stores newsletter subscriber details and sends our emails
Legal authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights
A buyer of the business, if ShopWithMore is ever sold or merged

We never sell your personal information to third parties.

8. How Long We Keep Information

Search logs (search term and date and time only): 12 months, then permanently deleted. They are kept in a private location that cannot be reached from the website.
Server and security logs: a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
Analytics data: according to the retention setting in Google Analytics, which we keep to a limited period.
Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, after which we delete your details (we may keep a minimal record that you opted out, so that we do not email you again).
Contact form messages and emails: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and no longer than necessary afterwards.

9. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
Have inaccurate information corrected
Ask us to delete your information
Restrict or object to how we use it
Receive your information in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter or changing your cookie choices

Because search terms are not linked to any person, we usually cannot tell which entries, if any, relate to you. To exercise your rights, contact [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including keeping our logs outside the public part of the website. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

ShopWithMore is not aimed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new Effective Date.
